BNS Section 40 — Commencement and continuance of right of private defence of body

शरीर की प्राइवेट प्रतिरक्षा का अधिकार उसी क्षण प्रारंभ हो जाता है, जब अपराध करने के प्रयत्न या धमकी से शरीर के संकट की युक्तियुक्त आशंका पैदा होती है, चाहे वह अपराध किया न गया हो, और वह तब तक बना रहता है जब तक शरीर के संकट की ऐसी आशंका बनी रहती है ।

The right of private defence of the body commences as soon as a reasonable apprehension of danger to the body arises from an attempt or threat to commit the offence though the offence may not have been committed; and it continues as long as such apprehension of danger to the body continues.
