BNSS Section 285 — Procedure for summary trials

(1) इस अध्याय के अधीन विचारणों में इसके पश्चात् इसमें जैसा वर्णित है उसके सिवाय, इस संहिता में समन-मामलों के विचारण के लिए विनिर्दिष्ट प्रक्रिया का अनुसरण किया जाएगा ।
(2) तीन मास से अधिक की अवधि के लिए कारावास का कोई दंडादेश इस अध्याय के अधीन किसी दोषसिद्धि के मामले में न दिया जाएगा ।
Official text
(1) In trials under this Chapter, the procedure specified in this Sanhita for the trial of summons-case shall be followed except as hereinafter mentioned.
(2) No sentence of imprisonment for a term exceeding three months shall be passed in the case of any conviction under this Chapter.
