CPC Order 5 Rule 12 — Service to be on defendant in person when practicable, or on his agent
आदेश 5 नियम 12 — जब साध्य हो तब समन की तामील स्वयं प्रतिवादी पर, अन्यथा उसके अभिकर्ता पर की जाएगी

जहां कहीं भी यह साध्य हो वहां तामील स्वयं प्रतिवादी पर की जाएगी किन्तु यदि तामील का प्रतिग्रहण करने के लिए सशक्त उसका कोई अभिकर्ता है तो उस पर उसकी तामील पर्याप्त होगी ।

Wherever it is practicable, service shall be made on the defendant in person, unless he has an agent empowered to accept service, in which case service on such agent shall be sufficient.
