Full text (English)
Every person has a right, subject to the restrictions contained in section 37, to defend—
(a) his own body, and the body of any other person, against any offence affecting the human body;
(b) the property, whether movable or immovable, of himself or of any other person, against any act which is an offence falling under the definition of theft, robbery, mischief or criminal trespass, or which is an attempt to commit theft, robbery, mischief or criminal trespass.

धारा 37 में अंतर्विष्ट निर्बन्धनों के अधीन रहते हुए, प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अधिकार है कि वह--
(क) मानव शरीर पर प्रभाव डालने वाले किसी अपराध के विरुद्ध अपने शरीर और किसी अन्य व्यक्ति के शरीर की प्रतिरक्षा करे ;
(ख) किसी ऐसे कार्य के विरुद्ध, जो चोरी, लूट, रिष्टि या आपराधिक अतिचार की परिभाषा में आने वाला अपराध है, या जो चोरी, लूट, रिष्टि या आपराधिक अतिचार करने का प्रयत्न है, अपनी या किसी अन्य व्यक्ति की संपत्ति, चाहे चल हो या अचल, उसकी प्रतिरक्षा करे ।
