Full text (English)
(1) The Governor shall hold office during the pleasure of the President.
(2) The Governor may, by writing under his hand addressed to the President, resign his office.
(3) Subject to the foregoing provisions of this article, a Governor shall hold office for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office: (Seventh Amendment) Act, 1956, s. 29 and Sch. Provided that a Governor shall, notwithstanding the expiration of his term, continue to hold office until his successor enters upon his office.

(1) राज्यपाल, राष्ट्रपति के प्रसादपर्यत पद धारण करेगा ।
(2) राज्यपाल, राष्ट्रपति को संबोधित अपने हस्ताक्षर सहित लेख द्वारा अपना पद त्याग सकेगा ।
(3) इस अनुच्छेद के पूर्वगामी उपबंधों के अधीन रहते हुए, राज्यपाल अपने पदग्रहण की तारीख से पांच वर्ष की अवधि तक पद धारण करेगा:
. संविधान (सातवां संशोधन) अधिनियम, 956 की धारा 29 और अनुसूची द्वारा (--956 से) “पहली अनुसूची के भाग क में के” शब्दों का लोप किया गया । 2. संविधान (सातवां संशोधन) अधिनियम, 956 की धारा 29 और अनुसूची द्वारा (-4-4956 से) “का अर्थ पहली अनुसूची के भाग क में उल्लिखित राज्य है” के स्थान पर प्रतिस्थापित । 3. संविधान (सातवां संशोधन) अधिनियम, 956 की धारा 6 द्वारा (-4-956 से) जोड़ा गया । 70

परन्त राज्यपाल, अपने पद की अवधि समाप्त हो जाने पर भी, तब तक पद धारण करता रहेगा जब तक उसका उत्तराधिकारी अपना पदग्रहण नहीं कर लेता है ।
(2) राज्यपाल, राष्ट्रपति को संबोधित अपने हस्ताक्षर सहित लेख द्वारा अपना पद त्याग सकेगा ।
(3) इस अनुच्छेद के पूर्वगामी उपबंधों के अधीन रहते हुए, राज्यपाल अपने पदग्रहण की तारीख से पांच वर्ष की अवधि तक पद धारण करेगा:
