BNSS Section 58 — Person arrested not to be detained more than twenty-four hours
No police officer shall detain in custody a person arrested without warrant for a longer period than under all the circumstances of the case is reasonable, and such period shall not, in the absence of a special order of a Magistrate under section 187, exceed twenty-four hours exclusive of the time necessary for the journey from the place of arrest to the Magistrate's Court, whether having jurisdiction or not.
कोई पुलिस अधिकारी वारंट के बिना गिरफ्तार किए गए व्यक्ति को उससे अधिक अवधि के लिए अभिरक्षा में निरुद्ध नहीं रखेगा जो उस मामले की सब परिस्थितियों में उचित है तथा ऐसी अवधि, मजिस्ट्रेट के धारा 87 के अधीन विशेष आदेश के अभाव में गिरफ्तारी के स्थान से मजिस्ट्रेट के न्यायालय तक यात्रा के लिए आवश्यक समय को छोड़कर, चौबीस घंटे से अधिक की नहीं होगी, चाहे उसकी अधिकारिता है या नहीं ।
