(1) Whoever makes or counterfeits any seal, plate or other instrument for making an impression, intending that the same shall be used for the purpose of committing any forgery which would be punishable under section 338 of this Sanhita, or, with such intent, has in his possession any such seal, plate or other instrument, knowing the same to be counterfeit, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine. (1) जो कोई, किसी मुद्रा, पट्टी या छाप लगाने के अन्य उपकरण को इस आशय से बनाता है या उसकी कूटकृति तैयार करता है कि उसे कोई ऐसी कूटरचना करने के प्रयोजन के लिए उपयोग में लाया जाए, जो इस संहिता की धारा 338 के अधीन दण्डनीय है, या इस आशय से, किसी ऐसी मुद्रा, पट्टी या अन्य उपकरण को, उसे कूटकृत जानते हुए अपने कब्जे में रखता है, वह आजीवन कारावास से, या दोनों में से किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि सात वर्ष तक की हो सकेगी, दण्डित किया जाएगा और जुर्माने का भी दण्डनीय होगा । (2) जो कोई, किसी मुद्रा, पट्टी या छाप लगाने के अन्य उपकरण को इस आशय से बनाता है या उसकी कूटकृति करता है, कि उसे कोई ऐसी कूटरचना करने के प्रयोजन के लिए उपयोग में लाया जाए, जो धारा 338 से भिन्न इस अध्याय की किसी धारा के अधीन…
